Don’t forget about meetings being held in your area which may assist you in your research. The local historical or genealogical societies may offer educational meetings which can provide you with additional information. For example, here in St. Louis this Saturday the St. Louis Genealogical Society is having a session on St. Louis County Records. Later this month the Missouri History Museum is offering “House History 101”, which will introduce attendees to the holdings of the Missouri History Museum Library and Research Center. (Too bad I don’t have my book ready to sell at that event!) Pulling up the websites of some local organizations should provide you with a calendar of their upcoming events.
